Questo nuovo CD, FAMA (Ciò che voglio dire), è il primo interamente dedicato alla poesia sonora da parte dell’etichetta Pogus, presenta 20 nuovi polipoemi prodotti tra il 2008 e il 2010 dal noto poeta sonoro italiano, nonché studioso e archivista di poesia sonora, Enzo Minarelli. Così Minarelli presenta il suo lavoro (estratto dal booklet allegato al CD): "Ogni suono riprodotto per quanto possa sembrar strano, è stato fatto con la mia voce, il 90% di questo CD nasce dalla mia voce, il restante 10% viene dalla girandola di effetti in dotazione al software usato. Una percentuale ridottissima di suoni provengono dall'ambito musicale, una sottolineatura lievissima, e pertanto l'intervento musicale verrà percepito come non musica. Il ricorso al campionario di effetti in dotazione al software, trova la sua ragione nel voler insistere sul senso del poema. Se da un lato lo sviluppo tecnologico mi affascina, e mi permette di lavorare in modo molto più soddisfacente e professionale, devo ammettere però che l'idea creativa mi è venuta ascoltando un mio vecchio poema sonoro, anche di recente performato a New York [Lincoln Center], Gran Amor Platonico per Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. FAMA (Ciò che voglio dire), si basa su una doppia pratica cinese, la prima si riferisce a quel pittore che quando dipinge un albero, diventa lui stesso un albero, ed io che ho creato tutti questi suoni, io sono tutti questi suoni; la seconda, studiando il software, dandomi pertanto delle regole, sono come quel cinese che una volta dominate tutte le regole, non sente più regole nell'atto creativo." Fama, è la dea Fama, la voz pública dei poeti latini, vive al centro del mondo in un palazzo cui giungono tutte le voci degli uomini, il palazzo diffonde amplificate tutte quelle voci, (Ovidio, Libro XII, Le Metamorfosi). Questi polipoemi sonori esprimono una creatività pura, libera da zavorre compositive, sono un esempio di ricerca assoluta. This new CD, FAME (what I want to state), the first all sound poetry release on Pogus, consists of 20 new polypoems produced by noted Italian sound poet, scholar, and sound poetry archivist Enzo Minarelli between 2008 and 2010. To quote from Minarelli’s liner notes: "Every sound produced here, however strange it appears, has been made by my own voice; nearly 90% of this CD, the remaining 10% coming from the catalogue of special effects attached to the software. A very small percentage of sounds come from the musical side, a slight emphasis, and therefore the intervention will be perceived as non-musical music. The use of sampling effects that come with the software, chosen after a long period of research, finds its reason in my desire to insist on the meaning of the poem. While technological development is fascinating to me, it enables one to work through a much more satisfying, professional approach, I must admit, however, that the creative idea which is the first nucleus for this new CD, came to me listening to an old sound poem of mine, most recently performed in New York [Lincoln Center], Great platonic love for Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, made in the late Nineties. FAME (What I want to state), is based on a dual Chinese practice, the first refers to that painter who, when he paints a tree, becomes himself a tree, and I, who have created all these sounds, am all these sounds; the second, studying the software, which allows me to know me the rules, I am like that Chinese who, once dominated all the rules, no longer feels the rules during the creative action, because he himself is the rule." Fame, is the goddess Fame, vox publica [public voice] of Latin poets, she lives in the middle of the world in a building where all the voices of men come to her, the palace spreads amplified all those voices. Ho ricevuto il tuo cd, ed oggi l'ho ascoltato per la prima volta: non posso nasconderti lo stupore che mi ha preso, traccia, dopo traccia. Il punto è che il punto di interesse è proprio quello di uno scavo profondo sull'espressione del suono vocale, catturato a tutte le latitudini delle sue possibilità. Mi piacerebbe sapere qualcosa del software che usi. Le mie orecchie, che in questi anni hanno vissuto un rapporto di profondo interesse nei confronti della musica vocale mongola, sono serene ed estasiate rispetto al tuo lavoro su cavalli e Gengis Khan. And your answer comes from FAME: sound is poetry in movement. The first five compositions based on Genghis Khan are a masterpiece! I see a movement there: the voice is expanding as Khan's empire, but Rimbaud is the engine. Listening to FAME is like to learn about universe: we do not know exactly where we are, but we can feel that life is expanding. Life is Poetry, and FAME is a powerful tool at the service of poetry. Non sono più in molti a praticare oggi la nobile arte della sound poetry, tra questi l’emiliano Enzo Minarelli, promotore di storiche collane in vinile con le edizioni 3ViTre, il quale raccoglie venti poesie recenti nel cd Fame, per la Pogus di New York. La "polipoesia" praticata dall’autore opera sulla teatrale scomposizione dei singoli vocaboli in frammentati fonemi, applicando alla viva voce solo un minimo di effetti digitali. Un vocalismo non poi così distante da quello di sperimentatori free form, qui in composizioni che omaggiano Mallarmé, il condottiero Genghis Khan o l’artista Caspar David Friedrich. Esce su Pogus il nuovo progetto di Enzo Minarelli, poeta sonoro e teorico - il suo manifesto sulla Polypoetry risale al 1987 - sperimentatore assai attratto dalle derive della parola, tanto da dar vita ad un vero e proprio archivio, il 3ViTre, una collezione di verbo-voco-visual che si aggiunge alla mole di lavori anche propri, confezionati a partire dai primi anni ottanta. La gran parte delle registrazioni in "Fame" è il prodotto delle manipolazioni e dei montaggi della sola voce di Minarelli e solo un'esigua parte è assemblata grazie agli effetti speciali associati al software utilizzato per editare assieme il tutto. L'artista è a suo agio nell'environment poetico, un flusso solo all'apparenza caotico che in realtà è gestito con notevole padronanza della scena e dei tempi, scanditi lungo l'intero album in ben venti distinti interventi. Non potrebbe essere altrimenti, perché l'abitudine al connubio di differenti linguaggi e media, evidentemente ha sedimentato un approccio professionale più denso d'esperienze e idee, vivificante nuove ed inedite relazioni fra voce e suono. Minarelli has created an archive, the 3ViTre, a verbo-voco-visual collection formally related to a tradition that began in the early eighties. Most of the recordings in Fame are the product of editing and manipulating Minarelli’s voice, though certain special effects have been added by software or taken from archives during the production process. This is an artist at ease in his poetic environment. It is a world in flux, but one only apparently chaotic: the twenty distinct elements of this album reveal a remarkable degree of control over atmosphere and timing. The poet’s penchant for mixing different languages and media has ingrained professionalism in his work, generating a profusion of ideas and experiences that give life to new and original relationships between voice and sound. Regardless, Fame, makes truly fascinating listening. Guttural sputters and tongue clucks are atomised into delay patterns and stretched into sizzling swells of tones.
